About Astrud PWDs
Astrud Portuguese Water Dogs is the call name for Amanda Ford and a mayhem of PWDs that live with Peter and Ellie in Carnation, Washington, east of Seattle in the Cascade Foothills. Our lakeside location has been perfect for training and entertaining Water Dogs!
Our first PWD is Bella, U-CD Int/Am Ch Stargazer's Astrud Isabella CD RA CWD SROM, who joined our family from breeder Sandy Overton in 2001. She captured our hearts from day one, and started me on a great journey of dog training and competition in various performance venues--water trials, agility, obedience, and rally. In addition, Bella took me into the world of conformation and, ultimately, breeding. How grateful we are to have found this wonderful breed!
I'm lucky to have time enough to volunteer in many dog-related activities, and am actively involved with clubs at the local, regional, and national level. I am curently co-President and newsletter editor for Monroe Valley Dog Training Club, a UKC Obedience Training Club. I'm also a Board Member and past President of the Pacific Northwest Portuguese Water Dog Club. For the past several years I have been Water Trial Secretary and general trial organizer for the PNWPWDC water trials and training workshops. I am also a full member of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America, and serve on the PWDCA Awards committee where I am responsible for administration of the Outstanding Breeder Achievement Award and the new PWDCA Producer of Merit Award.
